I'm Tina Copp, creator of Insightful Parenting. I have worked in education for nearly 30 years, teaching young people between the ages of 7 and 18. Alongside teaching, I have held pastoral responsibilities including Head of Year, Deputy Head and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
One area I am particularly passionate about is promoting good mental health in young people and reducing the stigma that can surround mental health. I believe young people need environments where they feel supported, heard and able to seek help when they need it.
I am an MHFA England Instructor Member and deliver both Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid training. My work has taken me into schools, sixth forms and universities, as well as workplaces and organisations across a wide range of sectors.
I am also a strong advocate for inclusion and neurodiversity, and for creating environments where people feel respected and valued.
Why I created Insightful Parenting
Through my work with young people, educators and adults, I have seen how important the adults around a young person can be when something begins to change. Insightful Parenting isn't about telling anyone how to parent. My aim is to share knowledge and practical approaches that can help parents, guardians and carers better understand young people's mental health, recognise when something may have changed, feel more confident about starting supportive conversations, and know when and where to look for further support.
I want Insightful Parenting to feel informative, practical and human — something you can learn from, but also something you can come back to when you need it.
A little more about me
When I'm not working, I have a passion for the outdoors and escape to the mountains whenever I can. At home, life is shared with happy rescue hens, a jealous cat, two incredible daughters and a husband who juggles fire — both figuratively and literally!
